For many PhD students it is so abstract. How come I am not happy? I started my PhD full of ambition and ideas, was rearing to start, but now I am working on it for a while I notice it doesn’t make me as happy as I thought I would be. How is that possible?

One of the important key words is: balance! Balance between work and play, free time. Make sure you do enough fun things. I mentioned this also in this blog.

I was researching a bit more on happiness and I found Robert Waldinger. Psychiatrist Robert Waldinger is the director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest and most complete studies of adult life ever conducted since 1938. Waldinger described some of the secrets to happiness revealed by the study in a recent TED talk.
