writing

Writing is for most PhD students an issue. Maybe it is even the biggest obstacle and for many the main reason for delay. In my blogs you will find various tips about writing. Today I would like to show you an app that could help, it is questionable though if you should use it….

Which app am I talking about? The app is called: ‘the most dangerous writing app’. The principle is very simple: you set a time (5, 10, 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes) and within the limits of the chosen time you are going to write. However, there is a catch…. If you don’t write for a total duration of 5 seconds, your text will disappear.

The idea is that you will end up in a flow by continuous writing. The act of constant writing will help you to muzzle your always-present inner critic.

You are forced to use a sort of free writing (see this blog), which is very useful for any phase of writing you are in.

When free writing, ideally you should write by hand, but that should not spoil the fun. If this app will help you to write and continue writing, then I am not an opponent….

Here it is, the most dangerous writing app. ‘Because it’s better to have written and lost, than never to have written at all.”

Would you dare using it?
