Open access, it is more and more the norm. You can now make open web annotations via hypothes.is. You can annotate with a book mark or chrome extension and also see what annotations others have made. In that way you can annotate together, for instance with people who share the same research group or are dealing with the same project. Terry Elliott describes how it works.
Don’t you like reading, but prefer to annotate audio or video’s, have a look at SoundCloud or Vialogues. Annotating together helps you to simplify discussions and to open up your thinking. You can also help each other. What is not to like about all this?
(And for the lecturers reading this, it is very handy to use in classes; students can see each other’s annotations without having to coordinate a lot. Public annotations are default for hypothes.is.)
